Tyson and Cody participated in a local 5K race this weekend to help benefit Team Tongie, a local charity group to help the less fortunate. Consequently, it was also Tyson's first race but weeks of soccer practice had him in good running shape. Ask him and he'll tell you that all he does at soccer practice is run and run some more. Paige and Cody took advantage of a BEA-U-TIFUL Friday evening and played 9 holes of Frisbee Golf.  There's a great little course along the Kansas River (or the Kaw River as it's known by the locals) near Lawrence, KS. It was Paige's first time playing but she was a natural at it.

We made our 2nd trip in as many years to the Kansas City Renaissance Festival - only this year we brought the boy along. The theme for this weekend was an Irish and Scottish flare but we just couldn't talk Tyson into wearing a kilt. Something about it later appearing on Facebook.

We never miss a county fair ... and so this weekend we made our pilgrimage to the Leavenworth County Fair to take in the aroma of cattle, sheep, pigs, and anything deep fried.  Truth be told, our county fair is pretty small with little to see and do. He started out at Kansas City Kansas Community College where he got his Associates Degree and then moved on to Washburn University in Topeka, KS.  All his classes were taken online where he was able to complete his homework at lunch, from an airplane, a hotel, and occasionally from home. And yet here he was running the same marathon for the 2nd year in a row.  This time the results were better, shaving almost 30 minutes off his time from 2009. Tyson hasn't a bike in a coon's age and Paige &amp; Cody had wanted to buy him one "for no good reason really" for some time. So Friday Night's Date Night took them to WalMart where a new bike (and helmet!) were purchased. Ty spent the night up at Leavenworth (the military base, not the prison) with the Boy Scouts on Friday night.
